FAQ
1. How do people dress at this church?  Every time we get together, whether it’s for church service or a dinner, we have the whole spectrum of clothing from beach wear (including sandy toes) to a little bit dressy (this is California, after all).  Generally, it is a pretty casual and welcoming place.  That someone has come is so much more important than how he or she looks.  Masks are worn according to County Guidelines.  You are always welcome to wear a mask regardless of guidelines.

2. How do I know what’s going on in the service?  There is a projected informative slideshow during the service.  The hymnals are used for the songs that are sung that week.  The words will be projected on the screen as well.

3. What about our kids?  Currently we do not have a children's service or nursery.  They are welcome to sit with you in the service.

4. Who can take Holy Communion?  No matter who you are or what your story of faith, all are welcome to the table of Holy Communion, a gift of grace, to feast on the bread of life and the cup of salvation.  Anyone who extends their hand (including children) will receive the offering.  At 8:30 worship, we gather around the altar and receive Holy Communion by way of intinction, dipping a small wafer into a cup of wine or grape juice.  At 10:00am worship, we use bread and individual cups.  (the filled cups are grape juice; and empty cups are for wine).  If you prefer not to take Communion, you may come up to the altar for a blessing.

5.What if our children are too young for communion?  We invite and encourage everyone who is not yet receiving communion to come forward or be brought forward to receive a blessing from the pastor.  We offer instruction for anyone who wants to learn more about what Holy Communion means and why it is important as disciples of Christ.

6. How do I learn more about becoming a part of Coastside Lutheran Church?  We used to offer classes, workshops, and Bible study throughout the week to enhance your connection to God, self, and this church community.  However, due to the pandemic, we discontinued them.  We do have Centering prayer every Tuesday evening from 6-7pm.  We encourage you to make worship part of your regular schedule.  Check the weekly email and monthly newsletter for opportunities for fellowship, learning, service, and more!  You are welcome here!
