Rally for Rally Day!

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over! In a couple of weeks, the kids go back to school and we adults settle back into our jobs after taking time off. (Make sure to bring your backpacks, briefcases, satchels, whatever to worship on Sunday, August 10 for the Blessing of the Backpacks!) One of the “upsides” of the end of summer is people are back from vacations and we get to all come together and gather as a church family again, reconnecting with long term friends and making new ones. 

St Paul tells us that the Spirit gathers up the church to be the body of Christ in the world. We are gathered to live as a community following the ways of Jesus in the world and to be a force continuing the ministry of Jesus in the world. Each of us brings to the church our skills, talents, energy and compassion that allow the church to be the body of Christ in the world: supporting and encouraging each other while we praise God and love and serve our neighbors…together. And that’s what Rally Day is all about…celebrating being church together!

On Sunday, September 17, we’ll kick off the church program year with a special worship service which will include a special anthem presented by our CLC choir. (Rehearsals begin on August 20 for everyone interested in joining this ministry.) After worship, we’ll gather in the West Wing for a potluck brunch. We’ll have music, conversation, games and other surprises. Rally Day will also be an opportunity to find out what is being planned for this fall here at CLC. It is a day to celebrate being church together.  Plan to be there! It won’t be the same without you!
