Growing together in Faith that expresses itself in Love.

​One of the blessings of having moved to Half Moon Bay is that I don’t have to travel as far to get to the church everyday and also that I can get here earlier and this has allowed me to take part in the Community Breakfast from time to time. Whenever I’m able to help out, I am always blown away at the number of people who come to the breakfast on a regular basis. These individuals and families with children count on this outreach program for hot, nutritious food twice a week. Many times, we also distribute food from the food bank that also help these families stretch their budgets. I love how when folks leave the breakfast on their way to work or school, they swing by the kitchen to say “thank you” and how often guests will volunteer to help with the dishes.
I am also blown away by the commitment of the volunteers who run the breakfast. In addition to getting eggs, milk and bread from the food bank, every week, Reenie, Linda and Bill take inventory of the supplies and shop for what is needed. Then the Wednesday team, the Thursday team and once a month a team from the Rotary club show up at 6AM to start chopping, scrambling and frying and keep at it until the last dish is washed and the floor is mopped around 9:30.
I really enjoy personally being able to volunteer at the breakfast. I enjoy meeting the people who come to eat and being able to spend time with the volunteers and getting to know them better as we work shoulder to shoulder.  I love that our church is helping our neighbors in important and tangible ways, expressing our faith in love and putting our love into action…just like our new mission statement describes.
