A Spiritual Oasis where all are welcome

Mission Statement
Coastside Lutheran Church is a spiritual harbor where all, without exception, are welcome and accepted with open arms. We are fed and grow by sharing in the grace of God through Jesus Christ, so we can go out to serve the community inspired by the
Holy Spirit.

Affirmation of Welcome
We seek to provide a loving community to everyone regardless of sex, race, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, physical or mental ability, age, or station of life. We are a Reconciling in Christ congregation.

CONNECTION

It brings me such joy every time it happens here. As we listen to and share our stories with one another, we learn so much and are changed by each experience. Whether it’s with someone we’ve known for years or a total stranger, each encounter affects who we are and what we will be. They are holy moments, evidence of Divine
presence, whether we recognize it or not.
Look within and you will find how your giving of time, talent, and treasure makes for a lively community! From confirming the gifts of the Holy Spirit in every affirmation of baptism to the stories shared on Unity Sunday to every time we gather in communion in worship, service, learning, fellowship, or prayer.  You’ll see our confirmands, a new baby in our midst from one who grew up in this congregation, graduates, opportunities to serve and grow, and the call to walk in memory of Yanira Serrano out of compassion for all who are misunderstood, feared, and in need of our support.  It is such an honor to walk the journey of life with one another! We become enriched, blessed, more.
It makes me glad to be a part of this community.  There is much for which to give thanks! Like   the generosity of Ken and Sally Coverdell who are renovating the retaining wall “to thank God for all our family and company blessings in memory of the saints.”  What a lovely way to honor God out of what is theirs to offer.  I think of the choir, Liesl, and Julie who have enhanced our lives, worship and prayer; or, the gift of learning made available each week through the commitment and expertise of Rebecca Jeffs, our Christian Education Director, the various teachers and staff who step up to share their time, faith, and care for the children and youth of this congregation.  I think of all who support the budget, making it possible for us to have quality music and Christian education available as a congregation. Every gift offered makes a difference, deepening our connection with God, self, others.
Thus, with a grateful sad heart, I share the news that after years of service and commitment to Coastside Lutheran Church, two dear members of our staff will be leaving their positions this summer and be celebrated on July 31, 2016.  Mark your calendars!! Julie Barwick has been playing the piano here for 12 years! Rebecca Jeffs was a child of this congregation and began serving on staff in 2006—10 years ago!  What a blessing to have such gifted talented dedicated people serving as staff!  It has been such a delight to work with them.  They will be missed, while greatly appreciated and ever loved.  Rebecca and her family will remain as members of the congregation and Julie will keep us abreast of her music.  We hope to have her come and in some way share her amazing talents.  I remember in my first review with Rebecca hearing how she would be doing the work whether paid or not.  It was her calling.  Her gift.  This is obviously true for Julie too.  As both women discover and discern how their gifts and calling will unfold in the years to come, we celebrate the opportunity and blessing to share ministry and life with them for so many years—a forever cherished connection.
With much humility, appreciation, and love, Pastor Dawn Teuthorn
